2nd Star Wins Ruby Griffith Award!
In 1969 the British Embassy Players established the Ruby Griffith Awards for outstanding achievement in theatrical productions in Washington, DC and surrounding areas.
On July 12th, 2nd Star Productions was awarded the 2008-2009 Ruby Griffith Award for
Outstanding Achievement in a Musical for  “Man of La Mancha”.  This year approximately 30 theatre companies were considered, twelve of those for musicals. This the third Ruby Griffith for 2nd Star, the former being Outstanding Achievement for Mame in 2004 and 2nd runner up in 2002 for Guys and Dolls. Pictured are, from left: presenter Sarah Frankland, Michael Galizia (Don Quixote), Christine Asero (Dulcinea), Brian Douglas (Sancho).

After 3 years, 2nd Star has a contract for the beloved musical set in Tsarist Russia in 1905. The story centers on Tevye, the father of five daughters, and his attempts to maintain his family and religious traditions while outside influences encroach upon their lives. He must cope with both the strong-willed actions of his three older daughters—each one's choice of husband moves further away from the customs of her faith—and with the edict of the Tsar that evicts the Jews from their village.

All Roles are open, including the Fiddler, Teyve, Golde, Hodel, Tzeitel, Chava, Yente , Lazar Wolf, Motel, Perchik, Fyedka and the rest. of the sons, daughters, mamas and papas of the village, the Russians, etc.

Have a song prepared that shows your vocal performance ability to its best advantage and bring your music for the accompanist. Be ready to move for your dance audition.

Bring a list of conflicts for Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays (rehearsal days) and a resume and head shot if you have them.
Performances are Friday & Saturday evenings, and Sunday afternoons in June, 2012.
