2nd Star Productions was founded in January 1996 by Jane Wingard, John Guyton and Gordon Gustin - a theatrically experienced trio who decided to "make their own rules for the sandbox". In addition to producing high quality shows, they wanted to create an atmosphere where people can grow, have fun and feel that their contributions were highly valued.
Since it's first year, 2nd Star's production staff has grown to include:

The current musical director and conductor for all productions is  Donald K. Smith.  Mr. Smith has over 30 years directing "pit orchestras" and was at Burn Brae Dinner Theatre for nine years.  The resident directors are Jane B. Wingard and John F. Guyton.  Guest directors have included Braxton J. Peters, who has a long professional resume and is Artistic Director for the Annapolis Opera,  Bobbi Smith, whose directorial work includes hundreds of productions on the East coast and who has worked as Staff Director / Choreographer for ten years at Burn Brae Dinner Theater,  and Charles Maloney, with a MA in Directing and over one hundred productions as an actor and/or director to his credit.

2nd Star Productions performs 14 shows per production at the Bowie Playhouse at Whitemarsh Park in Bowie, MD.  The theater seats 150.

2nd Star Productions is committed to bringing Prince George's County (where Co-founder Jane Wingard was a teacher for 28 years) and the City of Bowie (where Co-founder John Guyton was raised)  the finest community theater in the Baltimore/Washington/Annapolis area through performance, involvement and education.
